A mother loses her daughter to femicide.

Instead of reacting with rage against the world, she morns in a different way: by going out, speaking publicly and trying to trade love for patriarchy to our society. ​After Garyfallia was murdered in 2020, her mother Alexandra would dedicate her live the fight against femicide. Our film is a dedication to these brave women and all the other daughters who fell victim to femicide.

​Interweaving every-day moments with the story of our protagonist Alexandra Psarrakou, who lost her daughter Garyfallia in 2020, the film tries to describe her uncurable pain, her struggle and her strengh, but also the banality of this evil. ​“Mothers Of Daughters” pushes the boundaries of documentary filmmaking trying to find imagery for her incredible story, that could happen to any of us.

MOTHERS OF DAUGHTERS premiered at the 64th Thessaloniki International Filmfestival and was nominated "Best Shortfilm" at the the Hellenic (Greek) Film Academy Awards 2024.

The film won the Audience Award the Shortfilmfestival Kymata 2024.
